HS-110 Current Status: Phase II Clinical Trials
Advanced stage IIIB/IV Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer ("NSCLC")
HS-110 is the first in a series of ImPACT live-cell therapies against different cancer types. HS-110 utilizes ImPACT-modified lung cancer cells to stimulate the patient's immune system to activate a very robust immune response against the targeted cancer. Heat Biologics is now enrolling patients with stage IIIB/IV NSCLC in a phase II clinical trial using HS-110 for the treatment of NSCLC.
About Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Lung cancer is the most common cause of cancer related death for both men and women worldwide. Although most common in people with risk factors such as cigarette smoking or a family history of the disease, lung cancer can effect anyone. According to the National Cancer Institute, in 2009 over 215,000 people will be diagnosed with lung cancer in the United States alone and over 70% of these people will die from their disease. The treatment plan for patients diagnosed with lung cancer depends upon the stage of the disease. For the vast majority of people, surgery, chemotherapy or radiation therapy will be the first line of treatment for the disease.
